Elevating Community Voices through the #SomosSalud Initiative

Challenge:

The COVID-19 pandemic disproportionately impacted the Latino community, leading to urgent health crises and heightened misinformation. Alianza Americas recognized the need for a robust initiative to inform, educate, and connect Latino communities to vital health resources. The challenge was to effectively communicate the importance of these resources and showcase the grassroots efforts of community organizations working on the front lines.

Solution: 

In response to this challenge, the Somos Salud initiative was launched, focusing on engaging communities and promoting health education through community-led efforts. Communications Shop partnered with Alianza Americas to produce impactful video content that highlighted the initiative’s achievements and the critical role of Promotores de Bienestar (Wellness Promoters) in disseminating vital information.

  1. Video Production:
    • Created seven testimonial videos featuring community leaders and health workers from different cities across the U.S. Each video showcased the unique challenges faced by their communities and highlighted the proactive measures taken under the #SomosSalud initiative.
    • The testimonials illustrated personal stories, demonstrating how Promotores de Bienestar connected residents with essential health resources and education during the pandemic.
  2. Community Engagement:
    • The videos served not only as a testament to the work being done but also as a learning platform for community members. By sharing these narratives, the initiative empowered local health workers to take on leadership roles within their communities.
